Make “ME” TIME
Most mothers feel guilty when they take time out for themselves but you must so that you can do a good job taking care of your family.
Make time to get back into tip-top shape. Try and schedule an hour or half each day for your post pregnancy workout. Ask your partner, a friend or relation to mind your baby while you train. Some gyms provide a baby care service for a small price. Another option would be to workout at home while your baby is having a nap.
Your one hour work out session can be divided into two half hour sessions or four 15-minute sessions each day. As long as you do the total time required for exercise each day then you are doing very well.
Eat Well
You will need to eat enough calories every day to start losing weight after pregnancy. Breastfeeding mothers will need more.
Not eating enough calories will slow your metabolism down. Statistics show that it can slow down your normal metabolic rate by 20 – 30%. Eating junk food will not offer much nutritional value to you or your baby. Junk food will also deplete your energy.
Eat something nutritious every 2-3 hours making sure that the portions are small. Calcium will speed up how quickly your body burns fat. Great sources of calcium are dark green vegetables and low fat dairy foods. Include fresh fruits, lean protein and whole grain produce.
Exercise After Pregnancy With Your Baby
Have fun losing weight after pregnancy – by taking your baby with you. Join an online weight loss community or a local baby group and link up with other moms in your area and go for stroller walks or attend a swimming center with your baby. You may find recreation centers that offer exercise classes for baby-and-me.

Spend one-on-one time with your child and go for long stroller walks. Choose different locations; zoo, mall, local park, beach or your neighbourhood. As your child grows and starts walking you might like to take them to a playground where you can both run and play. The aim here is to keep moving.
Join Support Groups
Losing weight after pregnancy can be difficult for mums who are doing it alone. Support networks play a very important role in weight loss. Having friends and family that you can call on to babysit or give you encouragement along the way is priceless.
Connecting with other mothers who are also trying to lose baby weight makes it possible for weight loss struggles to be heard, discussed and success tips to be shared for the benefit of the group. You will feel good knowing that you are not alone on this journey.
Get A Good Night Of Sleep
New moms whose baby does not sleep through the night find this tip difficult to implement but it is vital they try.
Lack of sleep can cause physical and emotional problems and can prevent you from losing weight after pregnancy.
Pregnancy is very demanding on the body and the stresses of caring for a newborn can really tire you out. Arrange with your spouse, friend or family member to attend to the baby’s cries at least 3 times a week so that you can get between 8 -10 hours of sleep. Use ear plugs if necessary. Good quality sleep will help in a lot of ways.
Breastfeeding mothers’ should try to catch up on sleep whenever possible. Consider going to sleep when your baby does. Just remember that it will not be long before you and your baby are sleeping right through the night.
You will have days where you will feel like a failure. Blaming yourself and stopping altogether is worse than getting back up and doing something about it. Losing weight after pregnancy will happen if you continue to persist.
